ABOUT ME

Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, I started my CS journey in eighth grade with a simple project in Turtle. Now, I'm a sophomore studying Computer Science at Washington University in St. Louis. The way that computer science has become an intersection between the structure of mathematics and the creativity of other fields intruiges me. With interests in Software Engineering and Software Development, I am always excited to learn more.

JOURNEY

In eighth grade, I installed Turtle straight onto my command prompt and spent two weeks learning how to draw with it. It was the first time I truly had fun learning on my own outside of school, and I knew then that I was going to want to learn more CS in the future.
My First Project
My junior year of high school I took AP CS Principles, which taught me the basics of JavaScript. For my final project, I built a dog breed app to find breeds based on user input app through code.org. My senior year of high school, I took AP CS A and was introduced to Java.
AP CS Principles/AP CS A
Accepted into WashU, I took Introduction to Computer Science in the fall, which taught Java. I also joined the Developer Student Club, WiCS, Society of Women Engineers, and began the Women in Engineering Leadership credential.
Fall 2023
In the spring, I continued to learn Java through Data Structures and Algorithms and also took Introduction to Computer Engineering, which taught Arduino, C, and Assembly Code.
Spring 2024
In the summer, I completed three certifications, which were Responsive Web Design, JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures (Beta), and Front End Development Libraries. Through these certifications, I was introduced to and became familiar with CSS, HTML, and more.
Summer 2024
In the fall, I took Logic and Discrete Mathematics and learned C++ through Object Oriented Software Development Laboratory. I also become a project developer for the Developer Student Club, where I collaborated with with five students to develop a CRUD app for iOS and Android that displays consumer data and event promotion for Campus Creamery, WashU’s on campus ice cream store. I designed and built the admin community page to input new mix-ins that send to the backend and update the user-facing community page, the user community page to display mix-in data from persistent storage and enable real-time voting with live vote counters, and the admin home page for user-friendly instructions. I developed fullstack, utilizing Expo, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Firebase.
Fall 2024
Since I've yet to take a CS class that uses Python, I decided over winter break to learn the basics through py4e.com. I also created this website, using Node.js, HTML, Tailwind CSS, and JavaScript. Since I spent the last semester using React, I decided it would be good practice to build a project with HTML.
Winter Break 2024
I'm currently taking Web Development and Introduction to Parallel and Concurrent Programming. I am also continuing my role as a project developer for the Devleoper Student Club and will continue working on the app for Campus Creamery. Lastly, I am still an active member of WiCS and Society of Women Engineers, and am furthering my progress in the Women in Engineering Leadership Credential.
